"RELIGION"

Boldfaced statements are parts of the original essay (or a subsequent reply) to which the respondent has directed his comments.

Italicized/emphasized comments
prefaced by (R) are those of the respondent and are presented unedited.

My replies appear under the respondent's comments in blue text and are prefaced by my initials (MB).

(R) To whom it may concern:
Your views are disgusting and offending.

(MB) Did you have something particular in mind that we could discuss or are my views just disgusting and offending in a general sort of way?

(R) I am a Christian and I don't appreciate your atheist views.
(MB) I don't have any atheist views -- I have agnostic views. I understand how Christians tend to take any level of doubt as being atheistic, but that's simply not the case. I hope you've read some of the previous replies on this topic where the difference between agnostic and atheist have been discussed at length.

(R) People like you don't even deserve the equipment to spread your trash throughout the world.
(MB) One of the people who has already sent several replies to me has gone to great length to impress upon me how Christians are a "loving and tolerant" lot and how they feel that all views are welcome. Somehow, your comment doesn't seem to square with his assessment.
The Internet brings us all the ability to discuss important questions and expand our abilities to search for the truth behind difficult issues. We in America also live in a country that was founded on the principle of freedom of speech. To say that anybody -- no matter how objectionable their views might be -- is not deserving of the means by which he might speak his piece and discuss issues with his fellows is certainly the height of intolerance and is the antithesis of what we claim to hold near and dear.
All views deserve to be heard. How else are we to be sure that we have had the chance to examine all sides of any given question? I post all replies to my essays that I receive without regard to their content. I then agree or disagree with what has been said and make the entire discussion available for all who might be interested to read, join in, and maybe even learn something new.
Should I be denied all of this simply because I don't share your views on Christianity?

(R) My GOD will deal with you at the judgement.
(MB) Please explain "your God" to me so that I might better understand. I have no God at this time, but I can't completely discount the possibility that one or more might exist in some form either known or unknown to Man. If you can make a good case for your God, perhaps you might just convince me or others who might read what you'd have to say about him.

(R) Till then, pray hard.
(MB) Since I worship no God, I have no need or reason to pray. "Judgment" is also a concept that has no meaning for me so it is not something over which I feel any concern.

(R) [Signed] A concerned Christian
(MB) Concerned about what?
