WCW NITRO
TRADING CARD GAME

HARDCORE EXPANSION SPOILERS
(Common Cards)

This page contains spoilers and commentary for the complete set of Commom cards found in the Hardcore expansion set for the WCW Nitro Trading Card Game.

The "N/A/D" column lists the Nitro cost, Action Point cost, and Damage for each card.

Card #
Title
Rarity Type N/A/D Card Text
83/114
Bischoff on Your Side
Common White 6/2/- Search your deck and choose 3 cards. Shuffle the rest of your deck, then put those 3 cards on top in any order.
My comments: Play this card when you have a Gut Check in your corner or combine it with Take the Microphone and you can take the luck-of-the-draw factor almost completely out of your decks. Using this combo correctly will guarantee you getting key combo cards into your hand for a devastating attack. How about Goldberg seeding his hand with Resistance is Useless, Jackhammer, and Pin and then using his special ability to take another turn?
84/114
Block and Hope for the Best
Common Thunder - H: Discard this card to stop 1 damage from this attack.
D: You may discard 2 cards from your hand. If you do, stop the next 12 damage from this attack.
My comments: Could be a good card to have in your deck. It would seem to be especially useful for Vampiro with his special ability of putting cards from his hand back on top of his deck before resolving damage.
85/114
Brass Knuckles
Common Orange
Corner
3/1/+1 Weapon. If the referee is distracted, each Punch does +1 damage and is illegal.
My comments: Could be great for Jeff Jarrett (or Ric Flair) Punch decks.
86/114
Choke with the Camera Cord
Common Yellow 4/2/7 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: Strong stuff for Yellow decks.
87/114
Down-on-the-Mat Punch
Common Green 6/1/3 Does +1 damage for each other Punch you've already played this turn.
My comments: Good for Punch decks, but a bit expensive.
88/114
Drag to the Post
Common Yellow 5/2/8 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: What's interesting about this card is that the flavor text refers to this move as being Bret Hart's Figure Four around the post.
89/114
Eat the Railing
Common Green 2/2/6 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: Another good-looking "out of the ring" card. I can see this being a popular strategy.
90/114
Enjoy the Pain
Common Magenta 4/1/2 Draw 1 card when you play this card.
My comments: Drawing a card is nice, but this card is very weak.
91/114
Fans Love Hardcore
Common White
Corner
5/2/- Each orange attack does +1 damage.
My comments: Good for hardcore decks. Probably won't help Fan decks much since they aren't often built as Orange decks.
92/114
Fans Love Lucha-Libre Style
Common White
Corner
5/2/- Each blue Attack does +1 damage.
My comments: My Rey Mysterio Jr. fan deck is already salivating in anticipation of adding a few of these cards. Additional fan cards waiting for the Come From Behind combo plus extra bonus points for Moonsaults and other high-flying moves is just too good to miss. Bagwell and Kidman decks might also benefit strongly from these cards.
93/114
Fans Love Old-Style Wrestling
Common White
Corner
5/2/- Each green attack does +1 damage.
My comments: Great card for Green Fan decks.
94/114
Flyin' High
Common Blue 5/2/8 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: Excellent card for Blue decks.
95/114
Flying Shoulder from the Apron
Common Blue 3/2/7 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: Big help for high-flyer decks.
96/114
Head Slap
Common Orange 4/1/3 No text on card.
My comments: An Orange version of Tongan Death-Grip.
97/114
Headfirst to the Concrete
Common Orange 6/1/6 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: A couple of these could lead to very nice damage on your opponent.
98/114
Human Shield
Common Thunder - H: Play this card with an Attack card. That attack does +1 damage.
D: You may discard a card from your hand. If you do, the other player must discard 2 cards from his or her hand after this attack.
My comments: Looks like a good candidate for putting four of them in your deck. The attack bonus out of your hand is always a good thing and stripping cards away from your opponent is also useful. This is especially true if he's saving up for a nasty combo.
99/114
Meet the Announcers Up Close
Common Magenta 8/2/11 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: Very expensive, but very powerful. This card essentially adds another finishing move to Magenta decks.
100/114
Military Press-Drop
Common Magenta 4/1/3 No text on card.
My comments: A Magenta version of Tongan Death Grip. Same picture as Toss over the Ropes.
101/114
One Ring Can't Contain these Two
Common White 6/3/- Until your next turn ends, the action is out of the ring.
My comments: I can't see using this card. It essentially wastes an entire turn with its 3 AP cost and the text allows your opponent to play "out of the ring" cards, as well. Since these cards are generally strong, there's no reason to give your opponent free shots.
102/114
Over-the-Rope Choke
Common Orange 3/3/7 No text on card.
My comments: Pretty decent attack for 3 Nitro. Helps Wrestlers who can use Orange Moves, but who aren't built as weapons decks.
103/114
Savate Kick
Common Blue 6/1/4 No text on card.
My comments: A bit weak for a 6-Nitro attack.
104/114
Shoulder-Mounted Suplex
Common Magenta 3/1/3 You must discard 1 card from your deck to play this card.
My comments: Forget this card. Only 3 damage to your opponent *and* you have to discard from your deck? Why bother?
105/114
Slam into the Railing
Common Orange 3/1/4 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: A little weaker than other "out of the ring" cards in the set, but still not bad. 1 AP cost might allow you to play two of these cards in one turn to add up to decent damage.
106/114
Slammed by a Girl
Common Magenta 7/2/5 Draw 1 card when you play this card.
My comments: Low damage for a 7-Nitro attack which isn't quite balanced by the benefit of drawing a card. Somebody might use it just for the trash-talking value.
107/114
Snapmare
Common Green 0/3/4 No text on card.
My comments: May not see much use due to the 3 AP cost.
108/114
Stick Check outside the Ring
Common Orange 4/1/5 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: Fair-to-middlin' "out of the ring" card.
109/114
Stunned
Common White 3/0/- If none of the damage was stopped from the last Attack card played this turn, you may use this card. The other player does not draw a card to start his or her next turn.
My comments: A few of these in a technical deck will really help slow down an opponent by denying him cards and forcing him to spend precious APs to draw. This would be especially useful against low Reputation wrestlers who generally have more trouble getting cards into their hands early in the game. The effect of this card is even stronger if Fans Want Action is in play.
110/114
Swinging DDT
Common Blue 6/2/6 Ignore Dodges for this attack.
My comments: A more expensive Flying Knee-Drop. Yet another card featuring a wrestler (DDP) who can't use the card.
111/114
Take the Microphone
Common White 7/1/- Draw 3 cards.
My comments: Looks OK on the surface, but the 7 Nitro cost means that it will likely not be used until the endgame when you might not *want* to draw 3 cards. Still, it could be a useful card in a Second Wind deck or combined with Bischoff on Your Side or Larry Zybysko.
112/114
Toss Over the Railing
Common Magenta 5/1/6 You may play this card only if the action is out of the ring.
My comments: Another strong "out of the ring" card.
113/114
Wearing 'Em Down for the Fans
Common White
Corner
5/2/- Each yellow attack does +1 damage.
My comments: Submission decks get a little boost. May not find its way into too many Fan decks since they tend to be primarily full of Blue or Green Moves.
114/114
What a Display of Power for the Fans!
Common White
Corner
5/2/- Each magenta attack does +1 damage.
My comments: Power decks deal more damage. Again, this one may not find its way into too many Fan decks.
